Prof. Farland has worked extensively in the area of graduate placement since 2019. During her five year term as director of placement, Fordham English PhDs have secured more than twenty-five positions. She has worked with dozens of PhD students seeking employment in traditional academic jobs, community colleges, independent schools, editorial / publishing, and the non profit sector.

Beyond Fordham, she has convened career workshops on academic-adjacent job placement at Florida State University and other institutions.
